It's that time of year for the Mayor's Holiday Food & Fund Drive. This year's goal is to raise $175,000. Donations through dollars is important for us to sustain essential services for our community and allows us flexibility to fill the needs in The Market by giving us the power to purchase.
We've seen a high volume of growth since last year:
Aug. '22 - Nov. '22: 4,019 total visits by 901 families
Aug. '23 - Nov. '23: 6,618 total visits by 1,536 families
17.6% of our Riley County and 25.9% of our Manhattan neighbors live at or below the federal poverty level. Many people in our community are experiencing new or more intense levels support needed.
