Flint Hills Breadbasket has outgrown our historic location. We are excited to move to a new, bigger location and we'd love your help to make it a positive place for our guests.

Our new home will offer a guest space that feels welcoming and calm, with room to support more guests at once.

We are building a healthy future in Manhattan!

Flint Hills Breadbasket is a non-profit food network serving the communities of Manhattan, Fort Riley, Riley County and St. George, with a vision of No One in Need Among Us. Our mission is to provide reliable access to healthy food, build connections with community partners, and empower neighbors to meet their basic needs. Our on-site program ,The Market, supports weekly visits to anyone experiencing food insecurity within our service area. In addition to our onsite service where guests shop for food and hygiene items, we are a food bank supporting 7 partner food programs in our area.

In 2022, FHBB reduced barriers for service, welcoming all families experiencing food insecurity in our community. Since then, visits have increased from 15 to 70 household visits per day which has pushed our current building to its capacity. FHBB is significantly limited by current space restrictions. Only 12 people can comfortably fit in our waiting room and 3 individuals can shop in The Market for food at one time. This rate of growth is steady and needs to be met with a new space to help us continue the necessary services to our community.

Our new location comes from the purchase of 2 adjacent buildings from Furniture Warehouse at 2326 Sky Vue Lane & 620 Rosencutter Road. These locations will maintain dedicated space for cold and dry storage, provide more warehouse space, and significantly expand the capacity for guests, volunteers, and staff. Visitors to The Market @ FHBB will see shopping space that feels normal, with reduced wait times, and more dignity afforded to each person.
